Love and care for young cancer patients

On 18 July, Aspen Pharma hosted a morning of activities for children and teenagers undergoing cancer treatment at Casa Ronald in Rio de Janeiro and in Associação Capixaba contra o Câncer Infantil (Acacci), Espírito Santo. More than 40 employees from Rio and Serra participated in this voluntary action.

One of the main Ronald McDonald House Charities Global Programmes is coordinated in Brazil by the Ronald McDonald Institute - the Ronald McDonald House program. Following the concept of being “a home away from home” for teenagers and children with cancer and their families who are being treated outside their home cities, Ronald McDonald Homes offer free accommodation, food, transportation and psychosocial support for young people, patients and their companions.

In Rio de Janeiro, Mandela Day was marked by several activities, such as team games, recreation, music and dance. The kids enjoyed a delicious snack and lots of special goodies. A debate on Diversity and Inclusion was also held with the presence of actors Kaysar Dadour, Roberta Rodrigues, journalist Marcela Monteiro together with Casa Ronald’s patient’s mothers.

Meanwhile in Serra, employees from Aspen’s manufacturing site brought a lot of joy to the children that live in ACACCI, a non-profit organisation that also helps children and adolescents with cancer. They hosted fun-filled activities like face painting, dancing, team games and drawing.

"Social actions are part of Aspen's DNA worldwide and our partnership with the Ronald Institute involves a great cause: spreading the fight against childhood cancer and promoting awareness of early diagnosis through various initiatives involving our collaborators”, said Alexandre França.
