Safety and care for Mdantsane’s children

Employees from the East London site gathered their gardening tools, buckets of paint, good intentions and rolled up their sleeves as they headed off to make a difference in the lives of God’s Heart Desire Children’s Home in Mdantsane.

The 22 abandoned, orphaned and HIV positive children accommodated at the Home had been sleeping in prefabricated rooms that could not be locked and which placed them at great risk. The team secured the Home, replaced the doors, painted the facility, repaired the floors and supplied new carpets and blankets for extra comfort.

Educational material, books and school uniforms were also donated to provide an environment in which the the young learners could thrive.

After cleaning and decorating their rooms the children received gifts of school jerseys and shoes as they enjoyed the Mandela Day party celebrations. Fedics supplied refreshments while Supercare donated cleaning material.
