Shelys employees’ generous donations

Employees from Tanzanian-based Shelys reached out to two beneficiaries for Mandela Day.

The first was Chakuwama Centre, a home that cares for orphans, street children as well as physically and mentally challenged children. Chakuwama was established in 1998 with only 5 children but currently accommodates 64 children under the age of 18.

The Besthaida Secondary School which caters for young orphaned girls aged 14-20 years was the second beneficiary. It was established in 2004 and currently has 119 students who are provided with meals, shelter, education and medical care.

Shelys’ employees generously donated food, clothing and toiletries and joined students from Besthaida in playing friendly games of football, netball and challenging one another on the athletics track. The students, branded in Shelys merchandise, thoroughly enjoyed themselves with the winners of the various activities receiving prizes that included sporting equipment such as footballs and netballs.
