Making a difference in the eastern cape
Aspen South African Operations partnered with three beneficiaries in Gqeberha and East London for our 2022 Mandela Day activities.
Northwood Children’s Hospice in Gqeberha focuses on meeting the physical, emotional, social, medical and spiritual needs of vulnerable children. The structured programmes offer benefits to children under 15 years of age who have HIV/Aids, tuberculosis or Down’s Syndrome.
Their philosophy is to promote the best possible quality of life and care for every child with a life-limiting condition and to include their families in that care.
We donated a range of supplies to bring some relief and comfort to the patients at the Hospice.
Walmer-based Forever Family Homes in Gqeberha is a place of safety for babies and children in crisis. This Home’s vision and greatest hope is to see every crisis baby placed in a mother’s arms, and every child grow up in a forever family. They focus on raising a generation of game changes and this certainly resonates with us as our children are our future.
We spent time cleaning, painting, and completing carpentry and maintenance work at one of the Forever Family Home locations. We also handed over items which were specifically requested together with donations from employees who chose to support this worthy cause.
