Supporting healthcare professionals during the COVID-19 crisis
We extend our gratitude to everyone who is courageously helping patients and those in need and we uplift our prayers for safety and the eradication of the pandemic.
During the first half of 2020, we took care of our family and ourselves at home and sometimes at the office. We were forced to practice social distancing, not to share hugs or kisses, avoid handshakes and every form of physical contact with others.
The “new normal” as it is called has change the way we communicate with partners, colleagues and friends. However, in Aspen’s Andean Region, comprising Colombia, Ecuador and Peru we made a way to continue our commitment to Mandela Day by helping others from a safe distance and doing our best to celebrate this important initiative.
We decided to collect employee donations through our payroll. When we launched this initiative, people reacted very positively and sent their written approvals in order for us to be able to discount their contributions from their salaries.
In the meanwhile, we chose five key institutions comprising hospitals and clinics that had biosecurity needs for their medical staff. We talked to them in order to understand their requirements and specifications for personal protective equiment, to ensure that we were purchasing appropriate products to meet their needs.
We bought specific ICU masks which were despatched to each institution. We also prepared Mandela Day kits which were sent to healthcare professionals to demonstrate our appreciation to them in commemoration of Mandela Day.
This year, more than ever before, we appreciate the need to take special care of our healthcare professionals, and those who are bravely risking their lives in the face of the devastating COVID-19 pandemic. We extend our gratitude to everyone who is courageously helping patients and those in need and we uplift our prayers for safety and the eradication of the pandemic.
