Partnering with OzHarvest to provide over 400 meals to local charities
Aspen Australia and OzHarvest’s Cooking for a Cause joint effort to address food insecurity as part of the Group’s Mandela Day campaign underscores the importance of giving back and demonstrating care and support for local communities.
As a combined effort, our teams saved 100kg of edible food from going to landfills, prevented over 100kg of Co2 emissions from being produced and delivered over 400 meals to local charities across the country. An achievement we are very proud of!

Held at three different locations across Australia, we were overjoyed to have had over 30 volunteers representing Aspen in New South Wales, Victoria and South Australia combined.
Our Mandela Day activities involved preparing and cooking nutritious meals, which were then distributed to individuals and families in need, through OzHarvest’s extensive charity network.

The partnership between Aspen Australia and OzHarvest has always been a natural fit, combining Aspen’s commitment to corporate social responsibility with OzHarvest’s expertise in food rescue and distribution for the 12th consecutive year was an easy decision and one we look forward to continuing for years to come.
Aspen’s volunteers worked in high spirits, chopping vegetables, stirring pots, cleaning dishes and packing meals with purpose. Their collective effort not only filled hungry stomachs but also uplifted spirits, highlighting the impact of community-driven initiatives and further strengthening our bond with each other and the broader community.

OzHarvest are committed to halving food waste by 2030 while inspiring and influencing others to do the same and transforming lives through education.
As Mandela Day serves as a reminder of the values of compassion and selflessness, this event exemplified how these values can drive positive change in our communities.
OzHarvest made special mention of our dedicated team in Victoria who also volunteered to remain behind after meal preparations to clean the kitchen.
This partnership’s success is a powerful reminder that through collective action and dedication, we can make a lasting impact on those in need.
