Making a difference for St Josef’s young residents

Our first Mandela Day project this year took place on 5 June at St Josef’s in Schleswig-Holstein. This centre cares for 160 children and adolescents who cannot live in their family home temporarily or on a long-term basis.

St Josef’s was preparing to host their fourth football championship and the children needed to make their display boards which they would proudly carry when they walked onto the pitch for the event. Katrin Häcker, Jana Kamenkova and Nicole Reimers set to work helping the young residents with this task and thereafter also assisted with the official draw of the teams for the championship.

Mathias Kaiser, organizer of the championship and pedagogue of the centre, expressed his appreciation to the Aspen representatives for their work and caring spirit in memory of such an extraordinary person, Nelson Mandela.
