Engaging in social initiatives to support vulnerable families
In celebration of Mandela Day 2025, Aspen Pharma Brazil’s employees participated in a series of social initiatives to support local vulnerable families. The in-person activities took place in Rio de Janeiro — home to Aspen Pharma’s head office, and in Espírito Santo, where our manufacturing site is located.
These efforts are part of Aspen Pharma’s annual social responsibility calendar, which encourages all employees to symbolically dedicate 67 minutes of their time to community service — a tribute to the 67 years Nelson Mandela dedicated to the fight for human rights.
Inspired by the theme “It is still in our hands to fight poverty and inequality,” various actions were conducted through the long-term partnerships with the Institute for Inclusion and Development through Sports (“IDE”) in Rio de Janeiro, and the Central Única das Favelas (“CUFA”) in Espírito Santo. Both the IDE and CUFA are non-government organisations that support families in vulnerable situations.
Acknowledging Aspen’s commitment to this Group-wide flagship SED campaign, Márcio Cabral, Aspen Pharma Brazil Commercial Director said “Mandela Day reminds us that selling, caring, and changing lives is more connected than we might think. At Aspen we deliver health not only through our products, but also through our actions — and this is a great opportunity to show that in practice.”

These small actions definitely contributed towards a big impact as the campaign initiatives proved.
Aspen’s team engaged in a donation drive to collect non-perishable food, hygiene items, and adult diapers for the beneficiaries, and the outcome was overwhelming.

Employees together with the sales force from the Rio de Janeiro office took part in a special day of activities at IDE in Jardim Gramacho. They made a marked difference by hosting recreational games, sharing meals, and engaging in meaningful interaction with children and families supported by the project.

With a keen awareness of the socio-economic difficulties inflicted on these families, the team was humbled to be able to present donations of school supplies as well as 200 food baskets, 200 packs of adult diapers, and various personal hygiene items, such as deodorant, toothpaste and toothbrushes and toilet paper.

Anderson Leite, President of IDE, expressed appreciation to Aspen for their dedication and emphasized the importance of initiatives such as Mandela Day. He said, “Life is urgent, and the call to action is a rescue mission to keep it from slipping away.”

Similarly, In Espírito Santo, employees representing Aspen’s manufacturing site in Serra personally delivered 200 food baskets to destitute families supported by CUFA.
Gratefully accepting the donations, Gabriel Costa Nadippeh, State President of CUFA said, “Celebrating Mandela Day is a way to reaffirm our commitment to human rights, social justice, and a culture of peace — values that are more urgent than ever in the face of today’s global conflicts and inequality. A total of 200 food baskets were delivered to the CUFA headquarters and also distributed to families in the favelas of Espírito Santo. Initiatives like this truly help many families put food on the table and bring dignity through such an important partnership.”
