Giving back to the lederly in Laval

On 26 July 2023, five employees from Aspen Canada’s Quebec office took on very different roles at the Services for the Benevolent of Vimont-Auteuil (the SBEVA) in Laval.

This small team volunteered at the SBEVA’s pre-loved clothing boutique, where they sorted through donations and prepared the items for display and resale in-store. In celebration of their Mandela Day activity, Aspen Canada also donated C$1 000 in gift cards for the SBEVA’s Meals on Wheels service.

Founded in 1986, the SBEVA is a community organization that promotes mutual aid and helps seniors and people of all ages with temporary or permanent loss of autonomy, while also supporting those with physical or intellectual disabilities.

The SBEVA’s offerings include Meals on Wheels; home maintenance; transportation and accompaniment to medical appointments; shopping for essential items; sewing, gardening and maintenance tasks, security and surveillance services; and so much more

The team agreed that this experience was both humbling and extremely rewarding and they were privileged to be able to support the elderly through Aspen’s Mandela Day programme.
