Caring for disabled children and assisting disadvantaged learners

The Aspen Team in Port Elizabeth helped make a difference at Sinako-We Can, a home for disabled children and young adults based in Newton Park.

‘Sinako-We Can’ hosts 190 children with various disabilities such as autism, cerebral palsy, dyslexia, down syndrome and other developmental delays.

The team spent the day cooking, cleaning, hosted a special party for the educators and children and donated much-needed sensory room equipment which would assist with creating learning programs to stimulate the development of the children.

With the aim of making every day a Mandela day, the team selected a second beneficiary namely, Ikamva Learning Without Borders run by Masixole Swartbooi, QC Lab Analyst (SVP).

Ikamva provides Mathematics and Science tutoring classes to empower and enrich the disadvantaged learners from grade 8 - grade 12. Donations of stationery and equipment are scheduled for handover during August.
