Helping to improve the Peter McVerry Centre
In the spirit of changing the world for the better and supporting the most vulnerable, Aspen’s APTL team in Ireland spent a day supporting Peter McVerry Trust. This beneficiary is a national housing and homeless charity that offers solutions to the needs of people and communities impacted by homelessness.
Our volunteer day took place at one of the residential centres that Peter McVerry provides in North County Dublin. Thirteen volunteers from APTL worked alongside the residents of the Detox Centre under the supervision of a qualified horticulturist. We participated in painting, gardening and horticulture work, as well as other work on the 6-acre site.
Lending a helping hand to the less fortunate in our community in honour of President Nelson Mandela was a privilege. “Overcoming poverty is not a gesture of charity. It is the protection of a fundamental human right, the right to dignity and a decent life.” Nelson Mandela
