Protecting endangered turtles

The team from Aspen Malaysia chose an environmental initiative by supporting the Cherating Turtle Sanctuary in Pahang.

This centre was established in 1972 as a turtle hatchery in an effort to protect endangered species, particular the Leatherback Turtle.

The centre educates the public about turtles and the need to protect them in an effort to ensure their survival. The turtles lay their eggs on the beach during the night from April to August and the centre issues an alert to the public when this takes place in order to encourage them to witness this natural phenomenon.

As part of their environmental awareness commitment, about 40 employees from Aspen Malaysia participated in routine maintenance work on the hatchery and turtle nets and cleaned the surrounding beaches in celebration of Mandela Day.
