Bringing warmth to destitute Mauritian families

This year, Aspen Global Incorporated Ltd partnered with Caritas Mauritius on Mandela Day to donate winter blankets to 175 needy families from four impoverished regions across Mauritius.

Established in 1965, Caritas Mauritius works to rehabilitate the poor, the excluded and the oppressed ad was initially geared towards emergency relief. Now, with over 50 years’ experience of serving the needy, Caritas Mauritius is a united network bringing together more than 1,000 volunteers in the service of 50,000 beneficiaries.

While most of us can afford a winter blanket, unfortunately, this is not the case for many underprivileged people around the world who dread the cold winter months.

The warmth of a blanket can help the needy fight off viruses and illnesses and makes a big difference for those who are subjected to very difficult circumstances such as living in dilapidated houses with poor insulation, raw cement floors, and more.

A few members of the AGI Corporate Social Responsibility team presented the blankets to 20 of the beneficiaries at a small event. The team had the opportunity to interact with the recipients and their families, and thereafter enjoyed in a light lunch with them.
