Supporting Angelitos de Cristal’s children with brittle bone disease

In commemoration of Mandela Day, Aspen Labs in Mexico joined forces with the Angelitos de Cristal IAP Foundation (“the Foundation”) to provide support to children and adolescents afflicted with Osteogenesis Imperfecta (“OI”) (brittle bone disease).

Children born with OI, a congenital condition, have soft, fragile bones that are prone to fractures. OI also prevents optimal physical development and presents other problems such as deformities. Signs and symptoms may range from mild to severe.

Our team at Aspen Mexico showed immense commitment to the Foundation by hosting raffles, auctions, video game tournaments, food sales, coffee tastings, and many more activities to raise funds to support this worthy cause. Such was our commitment, that we far exceeded our fundraising goal and raised US$19 540, half of which was contributed by Aspen, to support the young patients.

In addition to participating in these activities, our sales force also dedicated time at our Annual Sales Meeting to compile emergency kits for fractures and made fabric dumbells that will assist patients with their rehabilitation exercises.

On 21 July 2023, we handed over the donations to a very grateful team at the Foundation. During our warm reception, we presented a workshop to parents focusing on the management of fractures. We also created awareness about the legacy of Nelson Mandela with the little ones while some Aspen volunteers painted and repaired the walls of the rehabilitation and hydrotherapy rooms.

These activities demonstrated the unity of Aspen’s team in Mexico and reminded us that each caring action – no matter how big or small, can have a lasting impact on those who are less fortunate.
