Aspen volunteers make a difference in Poland

Aspen’s team of volunteers in Poland have supported our Mandela Day programme since 2014 and this year they again chose to support two worthy beneficiaries.

They continued their well-established partnership with the Sisters of St. Jadwigi Nursing Home in Pielgrzymowice. This Home is a sanctuary to about 90 intellectually disabled patients, some of whom also have limited physical abilities. The team treated a group of 15 children to an incredible day of fun that included a trip to an amusement park in Chorzow. Their delight was indescribable and they thoroughly enjoyed their visit to the park as well as the special lunch that was provided for them.

As part of a separate activity, 20 children, aged three to 17 years from Dom Dziecka Skarbek orphanage in Polkowicach, could barely contain their excitement at the prospect of being spoilt for a day. Our Aspen volunteers arranged an exceptional experience for the children by treating them to a day trip which included an all-time favorite – delicious ice cream.
