Caring actions for burevestnik's children
“No one is born hating another person because of the color of his skin, or his background, or his religion. People must learn to hate, and if they can learn to hate, they can be taught to love, for love comes more naturally to the human heart than its opposite,”
Nelson Mandela, Long Walk to Freedom
Irrespective of their circumstances, children deserve to be encouraged to understand that they are loved, valued, have a purpose, and belong in society.
This is the “Path of Goodness” that forms the foundation of upliftment for some 200 children at the Burevestnik Regional Center for Social Assistance to Families and Children. The Centre strives to encourage responsiveness and warmth in the child’s psyche and also encourages them to develop a spirit of gratitude.
Aspen’s volunteers from the Russian South Region office supported the Center by donating stationery and planting flower beds. They also installed a volleyball net and handed over new balls to encourage the children to focus on a healthy, active lifestyle.
Assistance is provided for social rehabilitation of children with mental challenges; physical disabilities; educational and learning impairments; and difficult life situations. Families requiring conflict resolution through mediation are also supported, and particular care is extended to women who have suffered psychophysical violence.
