Supporting abandoned babies and toddlers

This Mandela Day, Aspen’s East London team came together to support Guardians of Hope, a place of safety that provides short-term care for more than 50 vunerabe children who have been abandoned or surrendered.

Employees across the site worked together to plan and deliver a meaningful initiative that included painting classrooms, planting a vegetable garden and collecting essential supplies to support the centre’s daily needs. In the lead-up to the day, the team also held a cake sale to raise additional funds, with all proceeds going toward donations for the home.

Guardians of Hope plays a vital role in the community as a place of safety that offers care and stability during a child’s most vulnerable years.

Aspen team’s involvement aimed to honour that work and extend a hand of compassion and care in the spirit of Mandela Day.

“It is an honour that in our 14th year as participants in Aspen's Group-wide Mandela Day campaign, we can support Guardians of Hope. This home is a pillar in our community and it strives to change ives for the better - one baby or toddler at a time, as they await placement with a loving family. We were elated to assist with donations of clothes, painting classrooms and creating a vegetable garden. We would like to thank our task team for their planning, fundraising and commitment to help vulnerable members of our community, embodying values of respect, dignity and ubuntu,” said Roslyn Raelly, task team lead for Aspen's Mandela Day campaign.

Thank you to everyone in East London who helped make this initiative possible.
