Aspen donates life-saving medicines for 62000 surgeries in Ukraine
In March 2022, Aspen extended our support to Ukraine with donations of life-saving medicines required for urgent surgical intervention. This action demonstrates Aspen’s ongoing commitment to saving lives and improving the quality of life of patients irrespective of their location or the circumstances that they are forced to endure.
A shipment of the 15 pallets of highly valuable anaesthetic medication left Bern, Switzerland on 25 March, and together with an additional 16 pallets collected from the South African Embassy, arrived safely in Lviv, Ukraine on Sunday 17 March.
The 15 pallets of anaesthetics were forwarded under cover of a protected convoy to their final destinations that included the hospitals of South-Mykolaiv, Odesa, Zaporizhzhia, Dnipro and Kherson, where they were anxiously awaited.
The collective donations of life saving medicines are valued at approximately US$740 000 and will facilitate 62 000 surgeries in Ukraine.
