Aspen Ireland's Volunteers Return to Sophia Housing
As part of Aspen Ireland's ongoing commitment to supporting local communities, a team of employees recently returned to Sophia Housing in Cork Street, Dublin, to continue our volunteering partnership with the organisation.
Sophia Housing provides accommodation and support services to individuals and families experiencing homelessness, helping residents rebuild their lives and work towards independent living. The organisation plays a vital role in supporting some of the most vulnerable members of the community across Dublin and beyond.
During our latest volunteering day, the team focused on two projects designed to enhance the environment for both residents and service users.
The first project involved creating a new herb garden that will be used by the on-site kitchen. Volunteers planted a variety of herbs including sage, rosemary, thyme, mint, and chives, which will eventually provide fresh ingredients for meal preparation within the facility. The herb garden will flourish over the coming months and become a sustainable resource that residents and staff can enjoy for years to come.
The team also spent the day refreshing and repainting the entrance to the Wisdom Centre, a facility located within Sophia Housing that is used by external groups and visitors accessing the centre's services and programmes. The refurbishment has helped create a more welcoming and attractive entrance for everyone who uses the facility.
The volunteering day was a fantastic opportunity for Aspen employees to work together while making a meaningful contribution to the local community. We are proud to continue our relationship with Sophia Housing and support the important work they do in providing accommodation, dignity, and opportunity to those who need it most.
