It is in your hands to combat poverty and inequity

During 2025, Aspen celebrated 15 consecutive years of participation in Mandela Day.

What began in 2011 as a single act of service, has become the Group's flagship corporate social investment initiative that has touched the lives of some 920 000 beneficiaries.

Stephen Saad, Aspen Group Chief Executive said, “We are deeply mindful of the needs of marginalised communities including those who are impoverished or displaced due to socio-economic conditions such as climate change, war or conflict. This is evident from our 15 consecutive years of participation in Mandela Day, which in itself endorses the sentiment that the heart of Aspen extends much further than improving the health of patients through affordable, effective medicine.”

“Over the past decade and a half, our employees across six continents have continually stepped forward as volunteers of this programme by identifying and partnering with worthy organisations to make a difference in the world. Witnessing them take on the role of our Mandela Day ambassadors has been profoundly moving, and we honour them as they personify our ethos of Healthcare. We Care. through their actions of selfless generosity, solidarity, humility and care.”

Taking hands to combat poverty and inequity in 2026

Our commitment over the past 15 years has driven a lasting impact with our Mandela Day beneficiaries. As we prepare to host our 2026 activities, we honour more than 45 200 employees across 40 business units who have to date embraced this initiative, and who have brought hope through more than 1 000 projects. We are confident that our united efforts will continue to make a marked difference in the countries where we have a business presence.

Caring for those in need

Our Mandela Day programme strives to contribute towards combating poverty and inequity among vulnerable communities and providing relief to abandoned, neglected, orphaned or abused babies, children and women and the elderly. With every 10th person in the world impacted by extreme poverty1, Aspen also engages in initiatives that provide relief to malnourished, hungry and homeless individuals. Activities are hosted for disabled individuals as well as those inflicted with mental wellness challenges; students facing limited academic opportunities; residents at social rehabilitation institutions; healthcare facility patients who need support and equipment; environmental and climate challenges; and inequality, among others.

During 2025, Aspen Mexico's team dedicated much more than 67 minutes to Mandela Day.

They hosted activities over nearly two months to raise funds for 26 vulnerable children cared for at Casasistencia IAP.

They carried out substantial improvements at the home and hosted a care day for healthcare professionals to administer measles and hepatitis vaccines, conduct dental and general check-ups and hand over health and hygiene kits to the children.
