Cooking for a cause in Australia
Aspen Australia once again hosted Mandela Day events across three states in collaboration with the OzHarvest team.
OzHarvest have been committed to making a positive change and they have been fighting food waste through their food rescue, education programs and sustainability work since 2004.
The OzHarvest team rescues food that would typically be discarded and uses available resources to create delicious meals that are distributed to those who need it most.
Our teams joined OzHarvest in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane and participated in their Cooking for a Cause programme.
Aspen employees were able to participate in a unique team building activity working with the OzHarvest's chefs and volunteers. During this process we learnt about zero-waste cooking skills, while transforming rescued ingredients into gourmet meals to help support vulnerable communities.
In honour of Mandela Day, some teams were even able to create South African-inspired meals including chicken curry as well as raisin bread and butter pudding.
The rewarding experience was enjoyed by all attending team members and we were able to produce over 200 meals across the three regional team.
Working with OzHarvest has always been a memorable experience and we look forward to engaging with them again in the future.
