Building stronger communities through service and solidarity
This was the second consecutive year that Aspen Colombiana SAS partnered with Fundación Proyecto de Vida in support of Mandela Day. We jointly supported vulnerable communities through multiple activities hosted over an 8-hour initiative at the Foundation’s facilities in Soacha, Cundinamarca.
Fundación Proyecto de Vida is an organization dedicated to protecting and supporting children and adolescents living in vulnerable social conditions. Through educational, recreational, and holistic development programs, the foundation provides a safe and nurturing environment that promotes the growth, well-being, and development of its beneficiaries.
With the objective of strengthening these protective spaces, Aspen volunteers contributed time, energy, and commitment to activities focused on improving both the well-being of children and adolescents, and the infrastructure of the foundation.
The activity aimed at children aged six to eight years focused on an interactive oral health workshop designed to encourage healthy habits in an engaging and educational manner. Each child received a dental care kit, reinforcing the importance of daily self-care practices and preventive oral hygiene.
Children and adolescents aged nine to 17 years refurbished classrooms, enhanced the entrance archway, and replaced sections of the perimeter fencing. In addition, friendly football matches were organized between Aspen volunteers, the children and adolescents, fostering recreation, teamwork, and positive social interaction.
Throughout the day, employees and beneficiaries actively engaged in the activities, creating meaningful connections and strengthening community bonds. The experience was complemented by a shared snack and a traditional wood-fired sancocho – a hearty stew, which provided a welcoming atmosphere of fellowship and community.
The volunteer initiative was the result of two months of planning and coordination led by Aspen’s Mandela Day Ambassadors. During this period, several employee engagement and fundraising activities were organised, including lechona and empanada sales. Aspen’s employees enthusiastically raised additional funds which expanded both the volunteer activities and volume donations delivered to Fundación Proyecto de Vida.
Through this initiative and the donation of resources, Aspen Colombiana SAS contributed to strengthening safe and supportive environments for children and adolescents, promoting healthy habits, enhancing the foundation’s facilities, and fostering meaningful interactions between employees and beneficiaries.
Aspen Colombiana SAS’s Mandela Day 2026 efforts positively impacted nearly 500 children and adolescents connected to Fundación Proyecto de Vida, reaffirming their commitment to helping build stronger, more inclusive, and resilient communities.
