Aspen Bad Oldesloe continued its staunch support of the Group’s Mandela Day campaign in 2024. They chose to support the Rowing against Cancer project, and continued previously established support of Stormini, a children’s play city in the Steinburg district of Mollhagen and Hamburg’s Mitternachtsbus.

Active volunteers from Aspen Bad Oldesloe took to the water to support the very worthy Rowing against Cancer project.

This beneficiary presents a very popular annual regatta hosted in Lübeck under the auspices of the Living with Cancer Foundation. The participants in the regatta row in support of a good cause with proceeds from the event used to fund the Sport zum Leben – Sport und Krebs (Sport for Life – Sport and Cancer) project, which is being successfully offered to patients at clinics in Lübeck.

Our two teams, Aspen Kesseltaucher and Aspen Travetaucher took part in the 12th regatta in 2024 together with 56 other teams.

Aspen’s team made it through to the semi-finals displaying a very impressive effort on the water. This outcome has motivated the team to do even better in 2025 in support of patients with cancer.

Aspen Bad Oldesloe once again participated in the Stormini children’s town initiative as part of our Mandela Day programme.

More than 280 children took part for seven days in this fascinating democracy game in the Steinburg district of Mollhagen. During the day, the children go about their work as residents of Stormini in set-up tents or classrooms.

The day begins in the morning with them taking on the role of a Stormini citizen at the employment office, choosing a job and learning more about an exciting profession so that they can withdraw funds from their savings bank at the end of the day.

Interested Stormini citizens aged 10 and 13 were given the opportunity to gain insight into pharmacist and chemical laboratory technician professions at Aspen’s classroom. The young learers had a lot of fun making vitamin bombs, creams and lip balms together with Maxime Gooss, Omid Asgari, Nico Suer and Celia Mannerow and then selling these products at the Stormini marketplace in the evening.

For a number of years Aspen has partnered with this impactful project, which is organized by Kreisjugendring Stormarn, and has again pledged support in 2025 to continue creating awareness of professions within the pharmaceutical industry.

As in previous years, colleagues from Aspen Bad Oldesloe supported the night-time work of the Mitternachtsbus in Hamburg to share a meal with homeless citizens together with something warm to ward off Europe’s freezing cold temperatures.

The Mitternachtsbus (Midnight bus) has been operational since 1996. It drives through Hamburg 365 days a year day and provides about 200 homeless people with drinks, food and, if necessary, blankets, sleeping bags and clothing.
