Having fun with mentally disabled teenagers

The Sikiarideio Institute, a school for disadvantaged teenagers who are mentally disabled, was the chosen as the Mandela Day beneficiary by Aspen Greece.

The school supports skills development as well as socialisation adaptation for about 100 teenagers and adults. Numerous workshops are hosted for the learners such as making ceramics and candles, wedding and baptism invitations, baking, carpentry and green house gardening. The team of 14 employees assisted the staff during the workshop sessions and hosted two activities that included flag painting and traditional dancing. They also donated books for the library and electronic equipment for the classrooms.

The fun day was concluded with a wonderful lunch that was shared together with members of the South African Embassy who joined in the festivities.
