Partnering with Feeding Hong Kong to provide 3 918 meals to the local community
On 30 July 2024, 20 members of Aspen Pharmacare Asia spent the afternoon volunteering at the Feeding Hong Kong warehouse to support the community in honor of Mandela Day.
Feeding Hong Kong is a charitable organisation dedicated to fighting hunger and reducing food waste in Hong Kong by rescuing surplus quality food and redistributing it to the underprivileged.
During the session, we collectively sorted and repacked 1646 kg of surplus food donated by various companies, including airlines and supermarkets. This effort resulted in offsetting 3127 kg of carbon dioxide emissions while supporting the community with 3918 meals.

Participating in this activity not only allowed us to give back to our community, but also opened our eyes to the pressing issues of food waste and poverty in Hong Kong. We learned that a shocking 3302 tonnes of food waste are sent to landfills in Hong Kong every day, while over one million people live in poverty and struggle to afford nutritious meals.
It was a humbling reminder that our actions, no matter how small, can create a significant impact.

“Together, we took a meaningful step towards fostering a more sustainable and equitable society for all. Let’s carry forward the spirit of giving and continue to make a difference in the lives of those in need.” – Keith Iu, Director of Aspen Pharmacare Asia
