Serah's Children's Home benefits from Beta's renovations and community support

Every child deserves the opportunity to grow up in a safe, clean, and nurturing environment that promotes their well-being and supports their aspirations. However, many Children's Homes continue to face challenges associated with aging infrastructure and inadequate resources, resulting in living conditions that do not meet acceptable standards.

Serah's Vision Foundation Children's Home is a non-governmental charitable organisation established in 2014 and located in Sunrise Estate, Donholm. The home provides care and support to orphans, abandoned, neglected, abused, street-connected, and other vulnerable children. The facility currently accommodates approximately 62 children, ranging in age from three months to 19 years, comprising 38 girls and 24 boys.

As part of our commitment to creating a positive impact within the community, Beta Healthcare undertook the renovation of the Serah’s Children's Home's washrooms and dormitories on 1 July 2026. The facilities had significantly deteriorated over the years, with overcrowded dormitories and washrooms in urgent need of repair to improve sanitation and hygiene standards. The renovation project involved refurbishing and repairing sleeping areas, replacing damaged fixtures, repainting walls, upgrading sanitary facilities, and enhancing the overall cleanliness and functionality of the premises.

These improvements have created a healthier, safer, and more comfortable living environment for both the children and their caregivers. The renovation works were successfully completed on 19 July 2026. Access to safe accommodation and proper sanitation is essential for the physical, emotional, and social development of every child. By restoring these facilities, we have helped provide the children with greater dignity, security, and a sense of belonging, enabling them to focus on their education and personal growth.

This project extended beyond infrastructure improvement; it represented a meaningful investment in the future of vulnerable children. Through the collective efforts and compassion of Beta Healthcare and its partners, we have contributed to transforming the children's living conditions while affirming that every child deserves the opportunity to thrive.

In addition to the renovation works, donations of laptops, food supplies, clothing and hygiene consumables were also handed over to the Home.

On 20 July 2026, during the commemoration of Nelson Mandela Day, the project was officially commissioned by Her Excellency, the South African High Commissioner to Kenya, Mrs. S. Mmola. The event was attended by several distinguished guests and partners, including representatives from the United Nations, Zereneti House, and other well-wishers.

A team of 12 dedicated employees from Beta Healthcare participated in the event, further demonstrating our commitment to community development and social responsibility.

This initiative aligns closely with Nelson Mandela's vision of promoting health, dignity, and improved living conditions for vulnerable communities. We are proud to contribute towards this noble cause, not only on Mandela Day but throughout the year.

Let us continue to make every day a Mandela Day.
