Philippines

The small team at Aspen Philippines is committed to ARK – acts of random kindness and they elected to support two beneficiaries for Mandela Day.

The Reception and Study Center for Children (RSCC) situated in Quezon City, is a home for the abandoned, abused, neglected, and exploited children who are between 1 month and 11 years of age. The center has seven cottages that provide a home life and simulated family atmosphere necessary for the growth of children as well as a nursery, infirmary and provides the children with schooling facilities in the immediate area.

Most of the kids have only one simple wish and that is for a pair of sports shoes so that they can be more active and participate more keenly in their Physical Education class. The Aspen Philippines team made an effort to provide for this wish and in addition, they also spent time with the kids playing educational games, doing arts and crafts and reading to them.

Aspen Philippines and the South African Embassy also supported Childhope Asia through literacy and reading, and presented the Kwell’s Batang Pilipino program to 50 street children through a workshop on “Ang Pangarap ng Batang Pilipino” (the dream of a Filipino Child).
