As part of our 2021 Mandela Day campaign participation, the team at Aspen South African Operations chose to support Isithembiso Babies Home in Gqeberha.

Established in 2005, Isithembiso provides a place of safety for babies from birth to 3 years of age who have been abused, abandoned or neglected.
They nurture, love, and help to develop the physical, emotional, and cognitive abilities of the children while working hand-in-hand with social services to place each child in a foster or adoptive home or reunite them with their families.

The team spent the day painting the jungle gym and handing over goods and baby essentials, all while strictly adhering to Covid-19 regulations thus contact with the babies was limited.
To drive the sustainability agenda of Aspen’s Mandela Day initiative, the Gqeberha-based site committed to paying three months’ rent and providing electricity vouchers to Isithembiso for their homes in Fairview and Walmer.
