Care and compassion for elderly citizens
On 18 July employees at Aspen’s Headquarters in Durban devoted 67 minutes of their time to bring some cheer to elderly residents in the community.
Inspired by Madiba's legacy and in the spirit of Ubuntu, our team packed some 100 care packages containing basic foodstuffs, blankets and toiletries in celebration of Mandela Day. These love gifts were prepared for residents of TAFTA and the Bill Buchanan Association for the aged.
These non-profit organisations are beacons of dignity and hope for older people in Durban. They aim to provide secure, comfortable and loving environments that embrace the physical, emotional and social needs of senior citizens.
In support of social interaction, entertainment and an active lifestyle, Aspen’s volunteers arranged a high tea for the TAFTA residents and supplied teatime treats for those at Bill Buchanan Association. A bingo programme was also hosted with the TAFTA residents who appreciated the companionship and care shown by our team. This Home also received a selection of new kitchen equipment.
Residents from both facilities were delighted to receive their care packages and they thoroughly enjoy the company of our volunteers.
