Saving lives together: A drop of kindness, a lifetime of hope

On 16 July 2026, Aspen Pharmacare’s Johannesburg-based Commercial team spent the day at the Itlokomeleng Association for the Aged & Disabled as part of the Group’s Mandela Day campaign.

The visit provided an opportunity for colleagues to demonstrate Aspen’s spirit of compassion by giving back to the community, spending meaningful time with the 110 residents, and making a positive difference through service and connection.

The visit provided an opportunity for colleagues to demonstrate Aspen’s spirit of compassion by giving back to the community, spending meaningful time with the 110 residents, and making a positive difference through service and connection.

Various donations were handed over to Itlokomeleng, reflecting Aspen’s commitment to caring for the communities in which we operate and living our values through meaningful action. The Association was particularly grateful to receive oil heaters, scarves and hats, garden umbrellas and equipment, gazebos, chairs, cleaning materials and toiletry kits.

The day featured a range of engaging activities that brought colleagues and the elderly together. Residents participated in painting, sewing and beading, which created a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere to connect, share stories and enjoy each other’s company.

One of the highlights was an interactive exercise session led by Aspen volunteers, which encouraged physical activity with great enthusiasm. The elderly folk also appreciated the meal served by the Aspen team, adding to a memorable day of connection, care and community.

The visit was a meaningful expression of Aspen’s commitment to making a positive difference in the communities in which we live and work, while embodying the spirit of Mandela Day through action and service.
